A Vendetta-Reprisals at the Ponies

At present there is a .vendetta in progress. , . A trainer who was present at Victoria Park ponies the other day considers that a former patron of his treated him badly, exceptionally shabbily in fact, and has sworn revenge. He started reprisals quickly-

A horse which he used to train and which is owned by the former patron was engaged. The ex-trainer reckoned it was a certainty. He told all his friends- and aJso mentioned that he intended to tell the stewards that the horse had been “stopped” at previous runs; that it was ready to go off; and that only strong arm methods could prevent its winning. He stated prior to the race that he had informed the stewards, so many of his acquaintances—rhe. told them all so as to spoil the price—had quite decent little bets on the horse.

And they collected, too. The “good thing” duly proved a good thing, and the trainer now reckons he has got back at least a little of his own.
