STICKING TOGETHER. The China Navigation Company, in consequence ol the present conditions ruling in the Chinese trade, announced its decision to reduce the pav of its foreign floating staff by 10 per cent, as from April 1. It is reported that, on a number of the company’s steamers, all the foreign personnel declined to renew articles except at the old rates.
MOTOR SHIPS FOR N.Z. TRADE. — K i; 5 reported, says “Fairplay,” that the New Zealand' Shipping Companv has ordered from John Brown and Company. Ltd.. Clydebank, two motorships. The vessels are each of 525 feet in length by 79 feet in breadth, and they will be fitted with BrownSulzer Diesel engines of a power sufficient to give them a sea speed of about 15 knot*.
