Briand (France), Sir Insien Chamberlain (Britain), M. Vnudervelde (Belgium), Herr StreEensnn (Germany), Signor Scialoja (Italy) and Viscount Ishii (Japan). The gathering was due to the Germ»n delegation appealing for a maintenance of the Locarno spirit in all matters of importance. Herr Stresemann had a private conversation to-day with Sir Austen Chamberlain and M. Briand. He strongly advocated the representation ol Germany on the Mandated Terri-' tdries Commission. Sir Austen and M. Briand both opposed the suggestion. The former pointed out that his attitude was supported by the Dominions. On the recommendation of the Council Herr Stresemann has decided to convoke an international diplomatic conference for October 17 for the purpose of launching an international convention to consider the abolition of import and export restrictions, as recommended by the Economic Conference., —A. and N.Z.
