When Archbishop Averill was in England toward the close of the last century he was once asked by a woman whether New Zealand was not in America. “Of course not, 1 * corrected her daughter. “New Zealand is in Australia!” When congratulating the Plunket Society on a successful year’s work, the Primate yesterday declared that Sir Truby King had been responsible for improving the geographical knowledge of the Homeland. “Why, some of the people at Home considered that all our soldiers, men in the main of splendid physique, were ex-Plunket babies,” said Archbishop Averill amidst laughter in which the Auckland committee heartily joined.
