NEW RUGBY GROUNDS
NARROW NECK RESERVE The Devonport Borough Council enthusiastically received a proposal from the Rugby Union asking to be allowed the use of part of the Vauxhall Reserve at Narrow Neck, which the union would put in order. The offer was conveyed by Messrs. A. Gray and C. W. Oram for the union, but they insisted that the union should have some fixity of tenure. The work that could be done would be limited by the finance available, but by first breaking in the pieec nearest the beach the union would be enabled to provide grounds that were urgently wanted and would be given time to develop the parts further back. “You can take it that we thankfully receive the offer,” declared the Mayor of Devonport. Messrs. J. Hislop and P. Sheehan were deputed to confer with two from the union and two members of the Vauxhall Reserve Committee.
