TOWN OF GLEN EDEN

COST OF DEVIATION ROADS In reply to a request by the Glen Eden Town Board to the Main Highways Board for a subsidy on account of damage done/t° deviation roads while the Great North Road was under construction, the Highways Board wrote declining to assist Glen Eden by a subsidy. At a meeting of the Town Board held on Monday evening the clerk said that in his letter asking for consideration he had mentioned that increased maintenance on West Coast Road had cost £SOO. Following upon complaints regarding straying cattle it was decided to see whether arrangements could be made to use the pound at New Lynn as the board could not see its way at present to erect a pound in its own district, the estimated .cost being £ 45. The chairman, Mr. W. H. Sheppherd, was appointed to interview the Waitemata County Council with reference to using its road as a stock route. A letter was received from the Local Government Loans Board asking for particulars of all loans the board had in mind for the year. Reply was deferred until next meeting.

It was decided to make immediate application to the Loans Board for permission to raise £2,000 for Clayburn and Fruitvale Roads. No objection to the raising of the loan had been received.
