GIRLS’ WEEK IN AUSTRALIA

Starting with the slogan “Woman’s Health is the World’s Health,” the promoters of the first Girls’ Week in Australia have a very fine ideal. Last .week the committee, with Lady de Chair as president, put forth a wonderful programme, consisting of a huge ball, held at the Palais Royal, schools’ choral contest, massed physical display by girls, and a pageant held at the Conservatorium, wljdch showed the progress of women through the ages from prehistoric times to the present. It was hoped to raise £15,000 in the week, to be spent on a sports ground, where girls who are engaged in business and industry may have wholesome companionship and healthy sport at a minimum cost.
