NOT ABLE TO APPEAR ACCUSED REMANDED William Taylor, aged 35, pleaded not guilty before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., at the Police Court this morning to a charge of common assault on a little girl of 12. In asking for a remand until June 21, Sub-Inspector Lewin produced a medical certificate stating that the child was not in a fit condition to appear in court. •‘I don’t know whether her injuries are serious or not; they may be serious,” remarked the magistrate. And to Taylor: “You will have to find bail for £50.” Tl.e rem ind was granted.
