The Sun Broadcast!
IZB INNOVATION LISTENERS IN PLEASED THE SUN takes the air! IZB, the private broadcasting station operated by La Gloria Gramophones, Ltd., 157 Ivarangahape Road, inaugurated THE SUN radio news service last evening. Every Monday night the broadcasting of the news will be a feature of IZB’s programme. In the pictorial section Mr. C. H. Pearson, managing director of La Gloria, Ltd., is shown telling the world about the interesting happenings, collected in news foriji by this newspaper.
Numerous telephone calls were received from listeners-in who had appreciated the broadcast. The subjects which interested them most were the Arapuni strike, Sutherland’s dash to Wellington, “the Prince of Wales unaflianced,” THE SUN'S £2O football competition result, and the raid on Batchelor’s gymnasium. LISTENERS-IN LEAGUE
After the broadcasting of the news Messrs. G. M. Salt and A. Hintz, of the newly-formed Listeners-in League, explained the objects of the association over the air.
It had been established to benefit broadcasting, and already there were over 1,000 members. The membership was expected to be 5.000 by the time the general meeting would he held next week. Listeners-in would be notified through the Press of the date and place of the meeting. The membership fee was vet*y small.
