FIRE IN APARTMENTS
HOUSE DAMAGED CAUSE A MYSTERY A fire which threatened to reach serious proportions broke out at 36 Parnell Road on Saturday. The outbreak was suppressed by the combined efforts of the Parnell and City Fire Brigades. The building, which was of 12 rooms and had two storeys, was built almost entirely of wood. Had the fire not been checked in its early stages, the damage would have been considerable. As it was, two rooms and a stairway were gutted and the other rooms damaged by the fire. The house was to have been occupied by Messrs. Spiers, Moody and Lane on the appartment system. The furniture, owned by Mrs. Teehan, was insured in the British Traders’ Office for £350. The cause of the outbreak remains a mystery, as the house was unoccupied at the time.
