PRICE OF SUGAR FALLS 10/- A TON

Until the Auckland grocers meet this evening it is not known whether the retail price of sugar will be reduced. The Colonial Sugar Refining Co., Ltd., has announced that from today all grades of raw and refined sugar will be reduced by 10s a ton. rriHIS is the third reduction in price J- made by the company this year, the two previous occasions being on April 21 and May 13. The wholesale price of No. 1A sugar, the table commodity, now becomes £24 a ton. Retail prices were lowered when the company made its reduction on May 13, and some of the grocers are of opinion that there wfil not be a reduction this time. However, the grocers are to meet this evening to discuss the subject.
