ANGRY PUBLIC

INCIDENT AT RANDWICK A LAST-MINUTE SCRATCHING By Cable. — Press Association.—Copyright Reed. 11.5 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. The last-minute scratching of the horse Castles from the hurdle race at Randwick on Saturday caused angry ferment among the public and bookmakers. The horse had been strongly supported and the withdrawal upset all betting just before the time to start. The owner asked to be allowed to amend his entry on the ground that the horse’s pedigree was wrongly described. The stewards decided that the application was too late, and there was no alternative but to reject the entry.—A. and N.Z. # # % * rK 3- & -T #
