Saar Commission. —The acting-pre-sident of the council of the League of Nations, Herr Stresemann, has appointed Sir Ernest Wilton to be chairman and member of the Saar Governing Commission until March 31, 1928. League of Nations Outlook.—English educational authorities have unanimously passed a resolution welcoming measures to give children and youths knowledge of the purpose and aims of the League of Nations. Workman's Leg Broken. —A broken leg was sustained by Jeremiah Murphy, aged 52 years, a borough council employee. through being struck by a fall of earth during excavation operations on Ohaupo Road, Hamilton. Sculling Championship. —The newspaper “Sporting Life” says it is hoped that within a fe\v days a deposit of •£IOO will be cabled to America to bind the projected match between H. Barry and Major Goodsell for the world’s sculling championship. New Prayer Book Unacceptable. —A two-days’ meeting of the AngloCatholic clergy, representing every diooese in England, has just concluded. It was agreed unanimously that the revised Prayer Book is not acceptable in its present form. Irish Free State Elections. —The pollat the general elections in the Irish f ree State passed off quietly. Voting "as heavier than in 1923. It is expected that the first preference will be known on Saturday, but the final results may not be known until Tuesday. Mayor Resigns. —The Mayor of Morinsville, Mr. S. S.
