“WITH SERIOUS ALARM”

ELTHAM VIEWS COURT Press Association. ELTHAM, Friday. The following resolution was passed by the Eltham Chamber of Commerce at its annual meeting: “This chamber views with serious alarm awards made by the Arbitration Court, being firmly of opinion that they impose unnecessary restrictions on the proper conduct of business, are detrimental to workers on whose behalf awards are made, and in some cases override the provisions of the Shops and Offices Act.” It was decided that copies of the resolution be forwarded to the Prime Minister, the Minister of Labour, the member of Parliament for the district, and to other chambers of commerce in the Dominion.
