Father’s Ghost Predicts Death

Told to the Minute

This is a real life ghost story, which, although given to the world at Easter, is worthy of a Christmastide setting. Jean Vitalis, aged 39, was under Dr. Sermyn for acute articular rheumatism and fever. He was desperately ill. Judge then the astonishment of Dr. Sermyn one morning to find Jean Vitalis cured, dressed, very gay and full of energy. Jean told the astounded doctor that his dead father had appeared to him during the night, had touched him everywhere, “to take away his pains and fever,” and had left him, telling him he would die painlessly at 9 p.m. on that same day. Vitalis showed no morbid symptoms. He talked with his family and the doctor until one minute to nine. He then said, “The time is up!” kissed his family, took leave of all present, lay down on the bed, saying once more, “Adieu, adieu!” apd moved no more. This is one ot several English and French cases of auto-premonition death, quoted in “Clairvoyance and Materialisation,” by Dr. Gustave Geley, a late director of the International Metapsychic Institute, Paris.
