WHISTLERS ON LONDON TRAMS

In an L.C.C. tramcar carrying 70 South London residents citywards, the conductor cheerily whistled “Let’s all go to Mary’s House,” as he punched the tickets.

A girl kept time with her foot, and an old man hummed the air as he read the newspaper. For. unlike bus conductors, tram conductors are not prevented by rule from giving vent to their joyous feelings.

‘ Our conductors are not forbiddento whistle o.r hum as they work.” said an official of the L.C.C. to a “Daily Chronicle” representative. “But, of course, they must do things in moderation, and not annoy passengers.
