YOUTH’S PLANS TO KILL MUSSOLINI

FULL CONFESSION MADE STANDING TRIAL IN ROME By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright ROME, Friday. The trial has commenced of the youth Gino Lucetti who, on September 11, 1926, threw a bomb at a motorcar in which the Prime Minister, Signor Mussolini, was driving in Rome. Women were, refused admission to the court. The reason was that Signor Mussolini had complained in a recent speech about the fashion display at the trial of Zanlboni, ' who had also attempted to assassinate him. Lucetti calmly recounted his preparations for the attempt on Signor Mussolini’s life. He said: “I first conceived, the idea of killing the Prime Minister in December, 1925. I did not communicate my plans to anybody because deeds must be accomplished rather than talked about. “I preferred a bomb to any other weapon because I thought it -would be likely to achieve better results. I intended tos use a pistol if the bomb failed.” Accused cynically confessed that he had placed poisoned bullets in a revolver. The acid used was supplied by a friend who lived in France. Lucetti asserted that he was a lone anarchist.

The hearing was adjourned.—A. and N.Z. ' .
