Women were, refused admission to the court. The reason was that Signor Mussolini had complained in a recent speech about the fashion display at the trial of Zanlboni, ' who had also attempted to assassinate him. Lucetti calmly recounted his preparations for the attempt on Signor Mussolini’s life. He said: “I first conceived, the idea of killing the Prime Minister in December, 1925. I did not communicate my plans to anybody because deeds must be accomplished rather than talked about. “I preferred a bomb to any other weapon because I thought it -would be likely to achieve better results. I intended tos use a pistol if the bomb failed.” Accused cynically confessed that he had placed poisoned bullets in a revolver. The acid used was supplied by a friend who lived in France. Lucetti asserted that he was a lone anarchist.
