SHOPKEEPERS FINED

SELLING ON SUNDAYS “W ell, if you have been charged with doing this before there is no -reason why you should not pay the maximum fine,” said Mr. McKean, S.M., at the Police Court yesterday when Arthur Bray pleaded guilty to having opened his shop and sold cigarettes on a Sunday.

‘‘Well, this sort of thing is going on all around and I have to look after myself,” said Bray. He was fined £5 and costs.

For selling eggs on a Sunday, Frederick Norton was fined £2, while it cost Samuel Palk a similar amount for selling chocolates on a Sunday.
