VAGRANT AND ROGUE

CONVICTED SEVEN TIMES THREE MONTHS’ GAOL William Postlewaite is 58 and “an idle and disorderly person.” Apparently it is a habit he has, for he boasts no less than six previous convictions for this offence, in addition to being classed as a rogue and vagabond. Last night about five minutes to 11 Constable Du Temple found him asleep in a tank on the recreation ground at Freeman's Bay. He pleaded guilty to being all that the police said of him, in court this morning. “He appears to have been, in prison practically the whole of last year,” said Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M.. perusing Postlewaite's list. “I suppose the only thing to do is to send hint back aga*p,” and lie did —for three months.
