A SERGEANT-MAJOR COURT-MARTIALLED
DISOBEDIENCE CHARGE Press Association. HAWERA, To-day. Charges of disobeying a lawful command given by a superior officer, usinginsubordinate language, and performing an act to prejudice good order and military discipline, were preferred against Staff-Sergeant-Major C. S. Mahoney at the sitting of the courtmartial to-day. The charges arose from an incident alleged to have taken place at the annual camp of the Second Mounted Rifles at the YVaverley racecourse last month. Accused refused to go to his tent when ordered to do so by Captain B. W. Harvey. He refused to take orders from Territorial officers, and performed an insulting act with his hand. Counsel for the accused raised no objection to the charges on the ground that a Territorial officer had no jurisdiction over a member of the permanent staff.
