WILL TO-MORROW DECIDE ISSUE?
GIRLS’ HOCKEY CONTESTS COLLEGE MEETS EDEN . I To ". morrow should practically decide u lio is to be the winner of the girls’ senior competitions. Two strong, and so far this season, unbeaten teams, training College and Mount Eden, meet. Both captains expect to field their best combinations, and Training College will have a team well ahead of last week, the girls all being back from tneir holidays. Their front line should be particularly strong and, if only more en A lon is paid to team work, they bhould present a formidable proposition to the Edenites. Their backs have also been strengthened by the addition of Miss Muller. Last week’s Eden team is selected for to-morrow, and its principal weakness in all probability will be combination. The match will certainly be worth watching, and should be one of the best of the season. Both sides can be depended upon to exhibit fair hockey. ARAWA SHOULD WIN Given an ordinary run of luck, on last week’s performance Arawa should score a victory over Training College B. Little alteration has been made in either team, but the force and harder hitting of Arawa should give them the advantage over the College s \- M iss Hamlon, taking the place oi Miss Cochrane as inside right, is the only alteration in the Arawa team. VARSITY MEET Y.W.C.A. Judging by previous exhibitions, the decision in the Varsity-Y.W.C.A. contest will go to the latter, their snappier play giving them the advantage. Varsity, however, have some good players, and though in the past they have lost badly through want of combination, they have one or two clever players, and the team would need little straightening up for them to score a win over their opponents. The Somerville-St. Cuthbert’s contest will in all probability be one of the prettiest matches of the day. Bright interludes of good hockey are assured, though erratic stickwork and inferior combination on the part of Somerville will, should play be up to the standard of previous Saturdaj's, see the victory go to the college girls. The game will certainly be keenly contested, however, and it is quite on the cards for Somerville to overcome the better combination of their opponents.
