The Canadians Defeat Nelson

(Special to THE SUN.) NELSON, Thursday. Favoured with fine weather conditions, the Canadian Soccer team took the field against Nelson yesterday afternoon and before a large crowd of the code’s fans defeated the Southern team by 5 goals to 0. The visitors scored within a quarter of an hour of the start of the match, but then for a time play was of a fairly even nature, Nelson several times testing the visitors’ defence. In the second half play was faster, and the Canadians added another goal in the first minute. Even play followed until the last 20 minutes, when the visitors added three goals. The Canadians showed much better combination than the local team, and were seen in some pretty movements. Nelson lacked finish and was up against a team well versed in the fine points of the game. The scorers were Davidson, Thompson, Milligan, Turner and Williams.
