Missing Fishermen Found Stranded on Whale Island
FOUR DAYS WITHOUT FOOD Press Association. WHAKATANE, To-day. THE launch party from Kutarere which has been missing for some days, was reported safe yesterday afternoon. The Motu signalled the Whakatane harbourmaster that the party was safe on Whale Island, but the launch was lost.

They had been picked up by the Motu, but the weather was too rough to enable her to work the bar, and later when the sea became calmer she sighted the Otimai and transferred the men to that vessel. The unfortunate fellows were on the island four days without food and
- were very exhausted, but otherwise - well. > The launch broke away from her > moorings on Monday night, leaving , the men stranded, and she has not * been seen since. The craft was L valued at £9OO. The party consisted of Alan Abbott, ! John King and Harold Jones and two l natives.
