SCHOOL CARNIVAL
AT OHAKUNE The final meeting of the executive committee of the combined schools’ carnival was held in the public school last evening. The balance sheet, which was presented, showed a very satisfactory state of affairs, the result of the recent carnival. The receipts were as follow:—Cliil•dren’s fancy dress ball, £l3 7s Sd; town committee, £173 15s 3d; Junction committee, £2Ol 17s lOd; coronation ball, £ls 6s lOd; total, £404 7s 7d. Total expenditure, £29 7s 7d, leaving a balance of £375. One-third of this amount will go to the Convent School. This sum will be subsidised by the Education Board £ for £, and will make a total of £SOO to be spent on improving the school grounds.
