A JOLLY PARTY
A very jolly evening was spent recently, when Airs. M. Smythe entertained a number of friends at her home in Clarence Street. The room was tastefully decorated with large yellow chrysanthemums, and a blazing log fire added a bright and cheerful touch. Musical items were contributed by Airs. IT. Morton, Miss G. Denz, and Messrs. E. Parker, H. Piper, and H. Alorton. Cards were also a feature of the evening, the chief prizes being won by Mrs. Denz and Air. E. Parker, while Mr. H. Piper carried off a minor one. Among the guests were Watson, Denz, Morton, Alisses V. Leitch (Sydney), and G. Denz. To prevent shiny steel buckles and ornaments from tarnishing drop them into powdered starch when not in use. A gentle polish with a soft brush will then keep them bright and shiny.
One of the best pastes for sticking labels on tins is made by adding lib of flour to 2oz. of white sugar. Boiling water should be used to mix it.
