TE AWAMUTU FIRE BRIGADE

The annual meeting of the Te Awamutu Fire Brigade took place on Wednesday evening. The chair was occupied by Superintendent T. Narbey. The annual report showed the brigade to be in a sound financial position. The Present strength is twelve, but there is urgent need for a larger membership, the Fire Board having authorised increasing the number to 15. The election of officers resulted as follows: Hon. surgeon. Dr. G. J. Hall (rejected); auditor, Mr. G. O. Jourdain (re-elected): secretary. Mr. B. F. Morns; driver, Mr. R. Pillow. During the evening reference was made to the unnagging interest displayed in the work Th the , bri^ade by Mr. William Ryan, the brigade unanimously elected Mr. ftyan a life member —the first in the istory of the brigade—all present ‘ that he had well merited such distinction.
