STRAND

CHILDREN’S PICTURES In looking after our own weekly amusements we are apt sometimes to forget that the kiddies dearly love an entertainment. In Auckland there has been no organised attempt to provide the children with a suitable weekly picture show. In the early days of pictures there were special children’s matinees, which were well attended and recommended as . good for the youngsters. Of late 3'ears this movement has disappeared completely. Some leading Auckland citizens and the management of the StrandMajestic had a meeting a few weeks ago to discus this long-felt want. They formed a committee of representative citizens to select pictures suitable for children, and decided that a “children’s own” picture entertainment should be given every Saturday morning at the Strand Theatre at 10.15. Every programme is approved by the “The Children’s Own” Picture Committee. It is made up of a gazette or interest film, a comedy, a short stage novelty and a big picture. To-morrow’s entertainment includes “A Russian Dancer” by the pupils of Beryl Nettleton and Marjorie Turner and the Rin-Tin-Tin picture “Find Your Man.” The “children’s own” picture entertainments will be continued through the winter months. Parents can rest assured that their kiddies will see the best and most suitable pictures. As for the kiddies, they will just love every minute.
