Takapuna’s "Burden of Finance.”— It will be necessary for the Council tp strike a rate of £1 17s 6d per £ 190 capital value, said Mr. J. W. Williamson, mayor of Takapuna. at the council meeting. It was the council’s duty to apportion an unavoidable burden. Owing to the heavy expenditure in connection with the sewerage and road loans, the sum of £22,959 15s would have to be provided for interest and sinking fund, as compared with only £15,937 for the year just ended, an increase of over £7,000. There was also an increase of almost £ 109 in the Hospital Board levy-.
