TRUNK MURDER

Duster is Important Link in Trial of John Robinson

FASHIONABLE MORBID WOMEN

PASHIONABLY attired women again filled the court at 1 the trial of John Robinson for the murder of Minnie Bonati, whose body was found dismembered in a trunk at Charing Cross railway station.

By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Reed. 10 a.m. LONDON, Wed. The resumed hearing of the trunk murder charge against John Robinson, aged 46, was attended by the usual crush of fashionable women. The police gave evidence of the discovery of a used match-stick which appeared to be discoloured by blood, in a waste paper basket in Robinson's office, which was one of the certain circumstances leading to his arrest.

Cross - examined, Margaret Moore, Robinson’s typiste, was unable definitely to identify the

duster found in the trunk as that used in the office. It was, however, similar to the office duster.

Slie worked for Robinson from April 19 to May 4, when she left because she thought that he was drinking because he was nervous.

The defending counsel cross-exam-ined Sergeant Clarke at length on the reasons why Robinson was taken into a waiting room instead of direct to Inspector Cornish, especially in view of the fact that Robinson had been given four days’ liberty after he made the first statement. Sergeant Clarke denied that there was anything unusual took place in the waiting room.—A. and N.Z.
