UNEMPLOYED
WELLINGTON MEETING t Press Association. WELLINGTON, To-day. About 50 out of work men assembled at the Trades Hall to-day. From the statements made, none of them have been out of work for less than a month. Fifteen were married. Of the single men, 17 had dependants to support. The number in attendance is said to be nothing like the total number seeking work locally. All made it clear that they were not particular to the form of work that would be acceptable, but would take anything at all. All were urged to register at once with the Labour Department.
DUNEDIN POSITION WORK FOR 220 Press Association. DUNEDIN, To-day. Advice received from Wellington through Mr. J. Robinson, Labour secretary, who interviewed the Prime Minister, is that the Government will provide work immediately for 220 unemployed here, and will subsidise local moneys in the same cause.
