MR. JOSEPH HOUSTON

The death occurred at Te Awamutu on Tuesday morning of an old and much-esteemed resident, Mr. Joseph Houston, after a brief illness. Deceased was born in the North of Ireland 83 years ago. He came to New Zealand in the sixties, settling in Canterbury. Later he went to Taranaki. About 20 years ago he came to Te Awamutu, and acquired land at Parawera, where he was farming for some time, later relinquishing it, leaving his sons to cary on. He leaves a widow, and an adult family, which include Mrs. W. Old, of Ngahapi, the Messrs. Houston Bros., of Parawera, while his youngest daughter is Miss Annie Houston, of Te Awamutu. The funeral took place this afternoon.
