LATE RACING
WET ELLERSLIE GALLOPS IN THE RAIN YOMA’S SMART HALF-MILE Training work was carried out this morning under adverse conditions, for heavy rain fell all the time, and most of the work was accomplished on the sand. Before breakfast Star Comet and Gala Day were sent over four furlongs on No. 2 Grass, and they took 54 2-5 to complete the task. There was plenty of water lying on the sand track, but after the breakfast adjournment some fair times were registered. FAIR TIMES Acushla over half a mile galloped freely in 51 4-5, Archeno taking the same time for a like distance and doing it well. Te Kara was not bustled over the first of five furlongs, running home the last half mile in 53. Sun Up, looking well, ran the last three of four furlongs in 40. After galloping easily over a round and a half, Tuki and Passin’ Through took 57 2-5 to cover the concluding four furlongs. Taking 39 2-5 for the last three of four furlongs, Master Doon was going better than Gold Jacket. BEST OF THE MORNING The best gallop of the morning was registered by Yoma and Kyngzone who covered four furlongs in 49 2-5, and considering the state of the going the effort was an impressive one. Yoma appeared to be going easier than his companion. The ’chaser Omahu was pulling hard when galloped steadily over a couple of rounds, and in taking 58 for the last half mile was not bustled. Beau Cavalier was not sent fast, but he put in useful work of two circuits. He looks none the worse for his outing on Saturday.
