JAPAN’S AMBITIONS PRIME MINISTER SPEAKS By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright Reed. 12.10 p.m. TOKIO, Monday. “While Japan *is sparing no efforts to co-operate with other Powers in China, she is determined to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of China, and has not the remotest wish to interfere in the domestic affairs of China or help any outstanding figure of force," said the Prime Minister Tanaka, when replying to a toast at the International Journalists’ Association dinner at whieh he was a guest The Premier concluded by saying that contrary to the apprehension that Japan w'as seeking territorial expansion for surplus population, she was above all seeking markets for her products, and harmony with all foreign peoples.—A. and N.Z.
