Another Bus War

PAY AS YOU PLEASE COMMUNITY SERVICE EXTENDS JJAS another bus war started? was the quqestion asked by Point Chevalier residents yesterday, when three community buses made their appearance on that route. The municipal service retaliated by putting on extra buses, and the fight for patronage was again resumed. The three new yellow buses have been placed on the route by the General Transit and Social Club, and a quqarter-hour service is to be maintained. Yesterday, despite the opposition encountered from the municipal buses a fair measure of support was accorded. With this further extension of the service Dominion Road, Onehunga, Ellerslie, Panmure, Parnell and Point Chevalier .are now' being served by the pay-as-you-please system.
