Eddie Cantor has faced death before the muzzle of a rifle! A few moments later he was trying not to blink too conspicuously while knives and hatchets whirled about his head. It was all in fun, however, and presented the action of one of the most amusing scenes in his new starring comedy for Paramount, “Special Delivery,” in which he portrays the tribulations of a new chum postman. Einar Hanson has been assigned to Captain Victor McLaglen, the giant who in the shadow of the Nelson monument in Trafalgar Square enlisted 600 brothers-at-arms to the Australians and then served with the Irish Fusiliers and the Cheshires through the Mesopotamia campaign, in the recapture of Kut-el-Amara and the occupation of Bagdad, is playing the role of Captain Flagg of the marines in Fox Films’ “What Price Glory,” directed by Raoul Walsh. McLaglen’s life story is as romantic as the dramatic fiction tale he is to enact. Among the chapters is his narrow escape from death by desert thirst in the Kalgoorlie gold rush.

Helene Costello, playing opposite Tom Mix in the Fox Picture, “The Broncho Twister,” is quite at home in the saddle. While she was on location her horse had to jump a fallen tree four feet in diameter. The horse leaped over and then, like his longeared relative, decided he had to repeat. Miss Costello, although unprepared, took the second jump with exceptional grace.
