MAJESTIC AND STRAND
“WHAT PRICE GLORY” The film critic of the New York “Sunday News" writes: “Since ‘What Price Glory* unreeled its brilliant and fascinating footage on the screen, X have been unable to think of anything else. It stands as a landmark, as an achievement, the kind that every producer will endeavour to duplicate. The Captain Flagg of McLaglen is a lusty, marvellouslymuscled male, whose every weakness is brushed into discard by the unconquerable brute force that is in him. He does not have to bolster his courage, to fight against fear or hide his emotions. He is the portrait of an untrammeled soul, if ever I saw one. As for Dolores Del Rio, it has pained me to note an isolated comment or two about her Charmaine, so blasting that the slender thread of friendship between this country and Mexico (her natve land) might snap asunder as a result. Miss Del Rio excels in her performance, and gives indication of ability to meet any test the screen may hold for her.”
