JASPER’S WEEK GOOD EVENING, AUCKLAND! Well, now, the CONCERT is going to be a great affair. When I look at the BOX PLAN (At LEWfS R. EADV AND SON, LTD., QUEEN ST.), I say to myself “Jasper, you are -wonder. The only pity is that you didn’t have brains enough to take the Town Hall for two nights.’’ It’s all a matter of mathematics. I was never taught properly, or I'd have simply added up 4,500 who saw the Show last year, plus 1.700 who were shut out, equals 6,200, plus 3,800 more people who appreciate the work of the AUCKLAND CITY MISSION. That makes 10,000 who want to go to Jasper’s Concert BIG TOWN HALL TUESDAY NEXT TUESDAY NEXT, 7.45 p.m. And I’ve only booked it for ONE NIGHT! What a stupid! However, it is the mark of genius to make OCCASIONAL mistakes. Remember ISAAC NEWTON AND THE CATS (or was It dogs?) Anyhow, JASPER’S LIMITED that fine band of music-loving, gloomchasing, laugh-raising Pierrots, represent only the joyful side of things. We can be serious, and do other things, you know. How’s this for last week’s statis tics of our work?— Interviews at Office .. .. 340 Soup Meals served .. .. .. 1,811 Parcels of Food (including about scwt meat) .. .203 Clothing Parcels 117 Free Beds 406 This means that 2,877 people have been dealt with in ONE WEEK. Unlike some of the older organisations, we have never received a single LEGACY, so we have to fight for every penny. Do you wonder I’m crazy about my PIERROTS. BIG SISTERS, BIG BROTHERS, BAZAAR WORKERS, GUILDS, ETC.? Come on, Auckland, it’s up to you! Come to the Concert Come to the Fair RE UGLY MAN CONTEST. —Nominations of Candidates should be addressed “UGLY EDITOR,” CITY MISSION, Queen’s Buildings, Wellesley Street W. 10s each nomination.
