LISTENERS’ LEAGUE
FIRST ANNUAL MEETING The Auckland Liste ners’ League held its first annual meeting in the Chamber of Commerce, Swanson Street, on Thursday evening. The chairman. Mr. A C. Jacob, presided. There was a fair attendance; the audience numbered about 80, consisting mainly of men, though there were several women and schoolboys present also. Mr. Jacob, in his opening speech, emphasised the need for such a letfgue, and quoted the good work that was
being done by similar organisations in Australia. The Broadcasting Company, he said, was not carrying out its part of the bargain it had made with the Government, as instead of having a capital of £20.000 it onlv had £9.005 paid ud. Mr. G. Mcß. Salt, Mr. Stringer and the district radio inspector also addressed the meeting. The following committee was anpointed:—President, Mr. A. C. Jacob; vice-president, Mr. G. Mcß. Salt; treasurer, Mr. H. L. Knowles; secretary, Mr. T. \V Stringer; committee, Messrs. Jones, Drayton.
