DEATH OF OLD RESIDENT
MR. J. B. GILMER The death is announced of Mr. J. B. Gilmer, an old resident. Mr. Gilmer, who was in his 81st year, was in his usual good health the day before his death and died in his sleep. Mr. Gilmer first came to New Zealand in 1886 from Dromore, County Down, Ireland. He returned to his native country about ten years later, but could not settle down and he came out again 36 years ago. Since then he has been connected with the Postal Department. For many years he was in Wellington, and when he retired on superannuation 12 years ago he came to Auckland to live. His wife predeceased him many years ago. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Leeden, of Auckland.
