MONEY SHUT OUT The Auckland Racing Club is very strict on the matter of closing time for its totalisator, and in this connection they are to be congratulated. This in a measure cost the club some money yesterday, when hundreds of people were shut out on the Jervois Handicap. In this event the total amount Invested was nearly £4,000 less than that on the next event, a hack hurdles race. Only forty minutes was allowed between the first and second events, and as the first took over five minutes to run it meant this much less time available for investors. Ellerslie patrons must be fully aware by this time that the clock is rigidly adhered to, and if they will persist in waiting for a “lead” then they must take the risk of losing—or saving—their pound.
