HOLIDAY CRICKET

NEW ZEALANDERS AT EALING MATCH AGAINST CLUB DELEGATES QUIET BATTING DISPLAY 'FHE New Zealand eleven began an unofficial match yester- * day against a team from the cricket clubs’ conference at Ealing. The club conference took first strike, putting up 204. New Zealand, at the end of the day, had six down for . 159.

By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Reed. 11 a.m. LONDON, Thursday. The club side included several men who occasionally assisted counties, including Hunt, representing Barclay’s Bank Club, who sometimes played for Middlesex. Hunt dominated the batting innings, which consisted of two parts. He started when the position was serious. The first 50 took 110 minutes to get, and the first two hours yielded only 97 runs. After lunch, when the situation was improving, Hunt hit more freely, cut crisply, and drove powerfully. The second 50 was got under 75 minutes. Hunt and Bloomfield added 62 in an hour. Hunt hit 15 fours. Dempster ended the innings with a brilliant one-hand catch in slips. James and Allcott played confidently and were seldom troubled. The only bowler giving any trouble was Hazelton. James gave a stylish exhibition. Dacre played delightful forcing strokes. Prince Arthur of Connaught watched the play in the afternoon
