BUSY TRAINS
BIG INFLUX OF VISITORS
BUSTLING RAILWAY STATION
Bustling crowds thronged the Auckland Railway Station last evening and again this morning. The promise of a fine week-end seemed to send everyone scurrying for trains. Although the holiday means only three days, many passengers left Auckland for the week-end. A race meeting always means an influx of visitors from the country. This morning the Limited from Wellington was a full train and the train from Frankton Junction was filled to capacity with racegoers and folk who returned from the Waikato Winter Show.
Last evening the Whangarei train was packed, and those leaving for Rotorua and the South carried a large cargo of travellers.
Many more people are taking advantage of the trains travelling to Ellerslie, and all to-day a stream of people made their way toward the station.
A railway official stated that the railway traffic occasioned by the King’s Birthday this year is much larger than that of last year.
