“ARE YOU SAVED?”
A good story is told of a recent visit of His Excellency the Governor-Gen-eraV a town not more than 65 mile's and 81 chains from the Queen City. As ?T 3 er^ one knows » representative of His Majesty is very keen on meeting new and old friends when visiting the various places to which his duties call him. But it was left to the said town to furnish quite a new departure from the ordinary conversation to Sir Charles- at these unofficial chats. Bending over in a very confidential manner, one noted local celebrity whispered very quietly, “Are you saved?” to the accompaniment of a tract and a few other necessary garnishings. The chairman of the civic fathers who was “doing the honours” of introducing citizens to His Excellency, did not “take a tumble,” as colonials will say, till the interviewer produced the “Good Book.” The chairman waited till the usual board meeting to tell the yarn, although it is not recorded in the minuses.
