LOWER WAIKATO NOTES
FAREWELL SOCIAL A farewell social was given recently foi* Mrs. R. H. Pasley, of Huntly, who is leaving for Wellington. The function, which was arranged by the Ladies’ Guild, was largely attended. During her long stay in Huntly Mrs Pasley has been an ardent worker on behalf of the Anglican Church, and will be much missed there in .church and society circles. The vicar, the Rev. J. W. Robinson, in a few well-chosen remarks, presented the guest with a beautiful travelling rug and sandwich dish. Afternoon tea, competitions, etc., were indulged in, and a happy little afternoon was spent by all. Among the ladies present were Mosdames Robinson, Payne, Parkes, Littleproud. Crimmins, Edwards, Mac Diarmid, Northmore, Hyde, Farrer, Little, Housley, Misses Hall, Housley and others. The weather for the unveiling of the Soldiers’ Memorial was bad, and good trucking under the circumstances was out of the question. Among the many at the reception in the Lyceum to his Excellency were: Mesdames George, Porteous, Greenwell. Aitken, Brocklebank, Swayne, Peckham, Edwards, Pasley, Littleproud, Housley, Harris, Sheeran, Mac Diarmid. Hyde.
