RICHMOND CRUISING CLUB
VARIED LIST OF TROPHIES “To those who did not win this time, I would say ’Keep your eye on the best boats, and do your best’,” said Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, patron of the Richmond Cruising Club, in presenting the prizes won during the 1926-27 season at the Ponsonby Hall, Ponsonby Road, last night. Mr. Holdsworth paid special tribute to the work of the president, Mr. James Donald, the commodore, Mr. T. L. Thompson, and the secretary, Mr. J. Longbottom, to whose efforts, he said, the success of the club during the seajust closed was largely due. The Richmond prize night and dance was the first function of its kind for the year, and was a notable success, being attended by a large number of members and their friends, as well as visitors from other clubs. The list of winning boats was published in THE SUN yesterday, and a varied and particularly useful selection of prizes, ranging from barometers, port and starboard lights, and coils of rope, to primus stoves, cans of paint, and cutlery was handde over to the owners of the various winning boats.
