VENIZELOS RETURNS TO GREEK POLITICS
ATTACK ON ROYALISTS STATESMAN COMES BACK By Cable.—Press Association.- —Copyright LONDON, Tuesday. A despatch, from Athens says the former Premier, M. Venizelos, has created a sensation by publishing an article urging the Republican leaders to insist on the Coalition Government holding a plebiscite without delay for the purpose of confirming the new constitution. M. Venizelos argues that this would end the intrigues of the Royalists who, in spite of the previous pronouncement of the people, continue to regard tne Republican regime is having been illegally established, and who maintain a dangerous agitation which aims at the restoration of the Monarchy by force. The Cabinet held a special meeting and decided not to adopt the proposal, but the situation, says the “Daily Express,” may be complicated by the intervention by the military Government concentrating the troops known to be loyal at Saloniea and Athens.—A. and N.Z.
