Big League Game at Carlaw Park

TO-MORROW’S ATTRACTION RICHMOND MEETS DEVONPORT League Rugby will be provided with an excellent day's sport at Carlaw Park to-morrow. The main attraction is the Richmond-Devonport clash, „ T J ie .^.- R - L - does n ot miss many opportumties of keeping the game before the pLibiie. It might also be said that it does not miss any chances of collecting an. extra day’s takings at the e,ates. if this game were played on the Saturday, it could be put down right away as a “free game” as far as the A.lt.L. is concerned, and would most likely be played at the Shore, -but the A.R.L. is not to be condemned for its business-like policy * rather it should be congratulated on its enterprise. It also speaks well for both of the clubs concerned, as it is usually a tough proposition to get two teams to agree to play football the day the Great Northern is being

Phe match should prove a good fast, even game. The two teams are evenlv matched and there should be very little between them at the finish.

CHANGES IN DEVONPORT SIDE Devonport’s team has been chopped about a great deal since it was last seen on Carlaw Park. Judging by the game played by the trans-harbour men against Athletic, the change has made a big improvement. Cleaver, Who has always plaved half, was shifted out to five-eighth, and certainly showed up well in his new position. Preston, who goes into halfback, shows promise. Hemmingwc.y, who plays first five-eighth, goes out

to second, and appears to be bettor there with more room to work in. Th<3 three-quarter line will be kept intact, L. Scott and Beatty on the wings and Seager centre. “Pip” Webb will most likely be full, unless the Race attraction is too strong. The forwards will most likely be J. Lang, N. St. George, J. O’Brien front row; “Snowy” Dixon and Ruby, second; and S. Rule breakaway. There is just a posibility of A. Scott being persuaded to turn out again, which would strengthen the team considerably. RICHMOND’S PROSPECTS After a bad start, Richmond has been looking up again, and should extend the Shore thirteen thoroughly to-morrow. The club will depend on Hanlon to keep their goal-line from being crossed. Bass will most likely be played at centre, with Stewart and Jenkinson on the wings, Parkes and Prentice at five-eighth, and Davis half. Campbell will be hooking for Richmond and should get a fair share of the ball and being supported by a good well-set of forwards will go from whistle to whistle. Mr. B. Emerali will be in charge with the whistle.
