“THE OWHAROA RERIMIT”
Henry Wiles, known in Waihi as the ‘Owharoa Hermit,’ ’and described by Senior-Sergeant McLean as the filthiest man that ever appeared in the court, was this morning sentenced by justices to six months’ imprisonment in Auckland Gaol on a charge of being an incorrigible rogue. Accused has been living in a shanty and lived on raw turnips and pumpkins, which he stole. His actions of late were such that the children were frightened to go to school.
