THIRD PARTY WHO CAUSED ROW
OLD SOLDIERS FINED William Bowler and Gilbert Parkinson were both old soldiers. They had known each other at the war and had not met since. The sequel to their meeting in Federal Street yesterday was their appearance in the Police Court this morning charged with being drunk, also fighting with each other. “The facts are these, your Worship,” said Bowler. ‘‘l was assaulted by a third party, who knocked me down. Parkinson came to my rescue and was in the act of picking me up when the constable came up. There was no argument at all between my friend and 1” Constable O'Connor had already told the court that the two were fighting, and that there had been a third man who got away. "Tou probably don’t recollect what did take place,” said Mr. W. Tt. McKean, S.M. "Tou both were drunk.” Bowler, who had been in court before, was fined a total of 30s on the two charges, and Parkinson £l.
