TEACHER FAREWELLED
At the meeting of the Waipa branch of the New Zealand Teachers’ Institute last week a farewell was tendered to the retiring secretary, Air. I. F. AlcDonald. The resident of the branch, Air. J. F. Roberts, referred in eulogistic terms to the valuable services which Mr. McDonald had rendered as secretary for the pas-: five and a-half years. He was leaving the branch in a very satisfactory condition both as regards the roll of members and the bank balance sheet Mr. P. F. Skinner, of Otorohanga supplemented Air. Roberts’s remarks by saying that, as was generally L-ecognised, the Teachers’ Institute was one of the strongest unions in existence, and that he was firmly of the belief that it owed its strength largely to co-operation of the country branches. Air. AlcDonald was then presented with a neat little smoker’s outfit, a silver cigarette case, a silver matchbox, two silver ash - >vs, and a cigarette holder. The i ecipient suitably acknowledged the gift.
